Built in traditional Irish style of Moher stone, sourced near the majestic Cliffs of Moher, this character cottage is situated in a lane on a working farm. The accommodation features sliding sash windows, a stone fireplace and country style kitchen combining Celtic charm and character with the modern comforts of today. The fully fitted country kitchen, with seating for up to six people, offers a large selection of appliances ideal for preparing a summer barbecue or family Sunday roast. The spacious living room, known as the Cliffs of Moher stone room, features a large open stonework fireplace and Flag floor (which add to the traditional Irish charm) with comfortable seating for up to seven people and views out into fields of cows and wildlife. The three bedrooms, with solid wood timber flooring throughout, comprise a family room with a double bed and two smaller rooms with single beds, sleeping a total of 4 guests. |

Watch wildlife from your window on this working farm, or stroll down the lane to the local pub and shop. A short walk brings guests to local Fanore Blue Flag Beach. Further afield the area offers nearby attractions to explore, including the Cliffs of Moher, the Aillwee Caves, the Aran Islands, the Burren Portal Tombs and Dolmens. The Burren lies south of Galway in County Clare, Ireland. The name Burren is from the Irish - bhoireann meaning a stony place. Its formation has lain unspoiled since the ice-age and is composed of karstic limestone, the largest area of such in western Europe. It is a place of surprise and delight to botanists, archaeologists and ecologists alike and occupies an area of approximately 300 sq. kilometres. The area itself is very bleak in appearance with glacial soil loss at a maximum. However is does have sufficient soil to grow a wide variety of the most unusual and rarest of plants, many of them strange bedfellows. A fine collection of alpines and Mediterranean species grows together in this limestone area with, strangely, some of them being lime-hating plants. The Burren is bordered to the west by the Atlantic Ocean and Galway Bay and is tucked in the north-west corner of Clare. |
